May 15th: Can you imagine it is already the 19th Blog. How many crazy things and adventure did we already experience so far and every day there are new ones waiting for us….and we can not wait to face them😉. You ask yourself each morning where is the time gone …. amazing time is running and it is never boring out there on the road.
The trip of today was planned for 7h …. at the end we managed to make 12h out of it. You will easily understand why 😃
Yesterday late night it took us more than an hour to find our Appartement in Sutumore… it was neat and clean…. however when we finally arrived everything was closed … no restaurant no bar open …. only a small street shop offered some beers … which we bought…. can you imagine the lady asked for 6.40 Euro deposit for 4 bottles of beer… we really asked her if we would have bought now the entire shop 😂. No worries we brought them back this morning before the trip… there we are very Scottish. That meant also light dinner in the room – eating the stuff we bought fortunately in Drama.
In the Morning we took a Little tour through Sutumore as Martin was there in 1987. He wanted to see if there are still things he could remember… but too many things had changed. Time flies! We hit the road direction Croatia…. streets in Montenegro are very similar to Albania…. it takes time to cruise and over talking is fairly impossible…as Matthias was driving you can easily understand that this was not his pace and traffic flow he liked too much.
Reaching the border of Croauit was an easy process and in no time we were back in the EU. Croatia has a beautiful coast line with small towns all geared up for the next tourist season …. we believe still a place you could spend a nice holiday. We passed Dubrovnik via the mountains…. what a magnificent view on the City you have…. amazing. On our way to Dubrovnik all of a sudden the street ended so we had to take a ferry … easy to manage and you have a fantastic view from the seaside… please do if you get there.
After Dubrovnik we had the choice of going direct through Bosnia to the northern part of Croatia or take a scenic drive via a peninsula and take a ferry to the northern part… we Took the latter one and reached the ferry departure spot at 1h30pm…. bad luck next ferry will go only at 5pm…. hey make sure you check all that upfront otherwise you end like us: all the way back and off to the border of Bosnia. Customs are easy and within 45 min we left Bosnia behind us and were back in Croatia.
We took there the highway direction Split to reach the planned target of the day: Rijeka. Matthias was driving… fuel consumption of the Landi was stressful increasing but we made huge steps forward..😂. We had booked an apartment in Rijeka … when we reached it we saw it was in the middle of no where… again no restaurants around and at 8pm we deserved something better… we skipped it … booked a hotel via our German ghost hand and went to Triest in Italy … cruising through Slovenia … or better racing through it. We reached Hotel Mignon in Triest at 21h30pm… we still could have a dinner and some beers with Grappa…. what a Day. Please can you count in how many countries we had been today? Tomorrow Ravenna is waiting
