From Shiraz to Yazd via Persepolis and Pasargadae

May 5th: Before talking about today’s trip we would still like to share some details about our dinner story from last night. We organized a taxi and went the restaurant called Soofi. We can just recommend that restaurant. If you are looking for good food for a decent price and a menu In English that is the place to go. The drive back with the taxi was in my view the worse part of experiencing Shiraz. Normally we had always negotiated the price upfront… this Time as we were in this are a couple of times before we believed to have a good feeling about the price and jumped in. Never ever do that. The guy charged us double the price …. can you imagine how two Germans react to that? Do not ask …. we even forced him to come with us to reception… no chance. We paid… please watch out driving taxi.

Today we started early at 6h30am with packing to be able to hit the road no later than 7h45am. We had 550km ahead of us with two stops planned. When we left Shiraz the traffic was already kicking in so it took us nearly 30min to reach the outskirts of the City. Our first stop was planned in Persepolis. The drive there was an easy one as the highway was not too crowded …. the countryside there is very green. After an hour we reached Persepolis. This place is a tourist spot. You will not find a huge difference to any other place in the world you know of that kind. Persepolis as such is just great. All the old monuments you know from pictures in your school books you can experience live… this is amazing. We took a lot of pictures there .. no worries we will post them all. It is simply fantastic which kind of buildings and monuments those people could build that time. Just as an advise: go there early as elsewise to thousands of people dropped there by bus might influence your impression in a negative way. After Persepolis we went straight to Parsagardae . There we wanted to see the shrines of some old Persian Kings. It takes you a good hour from Persepolis to get there. The spot is more or less a copy paste of Persepolis…. they know Tourists will come😂😂😂. We did a similar tour than before with some photos. Funny enough we met than two guys from Kurdestan… very nice guys.., the story started to get interesting when Martin started to film the buildings. One of the guys was a singer and he started to perform a song and wanted to be filmed by Martin… what a show…. at the end we agreed to put it on YouTube… stay tuned 😂😂.

Of subject and before we forget to mention it we would like to thank Dimitrios for organizing us a set of tires which we can fit when reaching Greece…. thanks mate you are a star.

Leaving our second stop we went direct to Yazd …. we passed two totally different landscapes… first we drove through a desert and than we went over some mountains up to 2600m … amazing. In Yazd we had booked the Kohan Hotel in the Middle of the old town district. The quotes and ratings we had upfront did not make us hoping for something special. Getting to the hotel is already a fantastic drive… narrow streets… GPS hardly works… adventure says it best. But getting into the Hotel seeing it makes you just happy. It is like something which you see in movies in which Sindbad is the main actor. If you ever go to Yazd go there …. no 5 Star Hotel can offer you this experience… you are Part of the culture… it is the spot we have seen so far no doubt. You have a rooftop in the hotel which enables you have view across the entire city …, wow not much more to say. After a tea in the courtyard of the Hotel we took a walk around the old town… it is what you want to see and feel the real Orient. It is silent peaceful no hectic at all and nearly no traffic. We took the time to sit in a coffeehouse at a small square and just inhaled the atmosphere… do that. After a light dinner we close the day early as we go straight to Teheran tomorrow….  and Ramadan Mubarak is said….
