May 2nd: After a decent breakfast in Iran Hotel Bandar Abbas we jumped at 7h30am into our car for the trip to Kerman. We had no idea how roads would be nor how traffic would evolve ….. and no idea about the local driving style at all.
After 20min we left Bandar Abbas behind and that early morning we had nearly empty streets. We hit the highway direction Kerman and were looking forward to our first road trip experience here in Iran.
Streets are Okish … watch out the potholes… they exist😂. A lot of truck traffic is existing and is the dominant part of the traffic. Trucks from the late 50s are not something special here …. you can see all sorts of makes from around the world. As there is no specific speed limit to the truck you need to be careful that they do not over take you 😂
The drive as such is very scenic…. in the beginning it feels like in the Oman mountains….after 2-3 h it changes and you reach an altitude of nearly 2000m …. we saw even snow….
In between we had to fill up the car … an adventure….you can read no sign … you do not know what you fill up …. the guy there speaks no English but it is cheap …60 liters for 12 Euro amazing….
Ah before I forget, we ran also into a police traffic control. They controlled in front of one of those various tunnels we had on our way. You give your passports, you see some guys with weapons around you than you have to open the boot but all in a friendly manner…. and than you move on.
After more than 5h we reached Kerman …. altitude 1700m … still 28 degrees…our Hotel is a bit more international (in the Lobby) have not seen the room yet😉. However it takes 30min to get a tea.
Later in the day we will go to the city center to experience the famous Basar and the vibe of the city.
