May 2nd: As mentioned before we had a safe trip to Kerman. We stay over in the Kerman Pars Hotel, much better than previous one. After settling into the room and taking a quick shower we started our adventure in the City Center. We managed to order a Taxi at the reception and 5 min later off we went. As usual communication with a local in this case the driver was more than difficult . The guy tried hard and you could feel the pride he has for his hometown but it was not easy to get the meaning of everything. He passed by some highlights of the city and dropped us eventually of at the old Basar of Kerman.
Before going into any more details upfront: the place is just amazing. Placed in an old building with endless cascades it gives you the real local feeling. You can buy nearly everything there. In one area you will find hundreds of shops in which you can buy traditional copper stuff which is Kerman famous known for. Than you have a section of Gold jewelries …. you feel like in the Dubai Gold and Diamond Sook. In other parts you get spices, fruits, vegetables, clothes and and and… after spending 2h there we have not seen everything yet… if you come to Kerman it is the place to see. What is in our mind very special is the way of selling and the behavior of the shop owners. They all behave very humble no one is trying to touch you or to pull you into his shop….
Funny enough for the first time during our trip we saw a group of tourists… all Western Europeans incl some German fellows….
we did not expect to see tourists so far east in Iran. A signal that the country is opening up step by step. Getting back to the Hotel we had to organize ourselves a taxi…. as you Know us by now we did not accept the first price 😂but we got the price we wanted at the end…. and guess what on our way home we finally managed to get a SIM card … can you believe it😃. We even managed to implement the Hot Spot.
Back at the Hotel we had dinner that was rounding up the day. We even had a beer …. no do not get excited it was with zero alcohol…
Tomorrow we drive early to Shiraz … 750KM
